Light levels links
The Somerset Levels present a fascinating local history resource protected by various bodies and their nature reserves, including the RSPB and the local authorities.
The Somerset Levels and Moors Project
Where you will find information on the Somerset County Council's Levels & Moors Project, the Levels and Moors Visitor Centres and request leaflets and brochures. Useful if you are thinking of making a visit to the area.
The Iron Age Village
Of particular interest is the reconstruction of an Iron Age village and roundhouse at Westhay.
The Avon and Somerset Wildlife Trust
Where you can find information about the North Somerset Levels and Moors Project.
The RSPB
Finally our family favourite. Two RSPB reserves where many species of waterfowl and waders can be observed in the reed beds, wet grassland, rivers and rhynes. Between the two sites you can see lapwings, curlews, redshank and snipe, various ducks including teal, kingfishers, great crested grebes, cormorants, Bewick's swans, golden plovers and lapwings, to name but some!
